BADco.: The Foundation Pit

BADco.: The Foundation Pit

The performance-exhibition Iskop/The Foundation Pit choreographically explores the specific structural principles and gravitational realities of architectural design and socrealistic representation of the body.

Premiered in 2018 at the Richter Collection, Iskop/The Foundation Pit is a performative exploration of the legacy of the 20th-century utopian architecture, simultaneously rooted in Vjenceslav Richter's mega-structures from the late 1960s (Synthurbanism, Heliopolis), conceptual meta-constructions of the American architect Lebbeus Woods, and Andrei Platonov's dystopian-satirical novel The Foundation Pit. In the tension between imagination, labour, youth and death, BADco., together with collaborators from the field of dance, architecture, design and music, also explores the contemporary role of the artist in relations of production and art practices.
