Circusnext Laboratories - presentation of the results
We are pleased to invite you to the spontaneous presentation of the artistic research laboratory as part of circusnext, which takes place from August 25 to September 3, 2023, in Zagreb, in the Big Hall of Pogon Jedinstvo. The presentation will take place on September 2 2023 at 16h.
At this year's first laboratory, eight circus artists from France, Spain, Lithuania and Belgium are working under the mentorship of conceptual artist Darragh McLoughlin.
The participants of the laboratory are emerging authors who were regionally pre-selected by national juries for the circusnext edition in 2024, and in November, European pre-selection awaits them.
The main goal of the laboratory is to support authors in developing their artistic writing. The methodology puts the artistic project in the centre and relies on the strength of the collective. The participants collectively collaborate on individual projects in a spirit of exchange and dialogue, and mentors are invited to support the questioning and reflection of the participants.
The presentation will include a spontaneous manifestation of the material on which, over seven days, the artists worked individually and collectively. Entrance is free.
Laboratory in Zagreb hosts Cirkorama, followed by Sarabanda in Genova, Subtopia in Stockholm, La Granerie in Toulouse, circusnext in Paris and UP in Brussels.
The project is realized in cooperation with the Zagreb Center for Independent Culture and Youth - Pogon, with the financial support of circusnext, La Villette, Creative Europe of the European Union program, the French Institute, the City Office for Culture and Civil Society of the City of Zagreb, the Ministry of Culture and Media Republic of Croatia and the Kultura nova Foundation.
