Martin Messier: Echo Chamber
As part of the annual celebration programme marking the 20 year anniversary of KONTEJNER, Canadian new media artist, performer and composer Martin Messier will present his new audio-visual performance "Echo Chamber" at Pogon Jedinstvo.
Messier created a modular interface inspired by medical technologies and techniques that allow exploring the interior of the body. By using audio-reactive panels and long needles that he handles like instruments, Messier explores resonance, light, shadow and the human body itself. Needles are used to pierce panels and to create specific sound sequences. Through a series of movements and changes in position, the artist influences the light source that appears, disappears and multiplies. The panels also become a visible source of electrical charges and projection screens, transposing Messier’s movements into blurry shapes.
Echo Chamber is Messier’s window into the human body, into what lies beneath the visible surface.
