Smarter City 3.0: Phoenix or Apocalypse? - Zagreb Biennale
"Smarter City" is a biennial multi-year programme implemented by the Shadow Casters, which deals with the city as a layered resource of the community.
The theme of the 2022 programme is the new resourcefulness of the city under the name "Phoenix or Apocalypse". The impetus has been the never-awaited systematic renovation of the City of Zagreb and Sisak-Moslavina County and the general issue of a new identity of the city/cities achieved through interpolations and renovations of old cores and zoning. The programme explores different possibilities for the resourcefulness of the city and compares and contrasts opinions on what we can do to make the city, which by definition is a space of community and exchange, smarter, nicer to live in and more useful for all citizens.
