Contemporary Topography: GIF and Architecture – Visual Practice as Critique
The exhibition “Contemporary Topography” features a selection of works from Sanja Jankov's solo curatorial project “GIF and Architecture: Visual Practice as Critique“, which has been created through an online collection, series of exhibitions, presentations, workshops, lectures and text publications since 2014.
Although GIFs have no sound and are characterised by short duration, they convey a great deal of information and meanings referring to complex issues and topics.
Sonja Jankov, an artist and curator, uses art media (site-specific installations, photographs, sketches) as well as theoretical writing, to present the results of her researches. She is the author of the following exhibitions and projects: GIF and Cities, Post-Archive of Contemporary Art, SPENS and Socialist Sport Halls Today, GIF and Public Urban Spaces. She lives and works in Novi Sad.
