selma banich & Adam Semijalac

selma banich (1979, Yugoslavia) is and artist, activist, and community organizer from Zagreb, Croatia. Her art practice is grounded in explorative, processual, and activist work, and is politically inspired by anarchism and feminism. selma has worked independently and in collaboration with other artists, curators, groups, and initiatives in the Balkans, Europe, and the US. She has participated in numerous dance, theater, and opera productions as a choreographer, and has also performed on film. She participates in local and transnational solidarity initiatives related to the ongoing feminist, anti-fascist, migrant, and workers’ struggles. Currently, those initiatives are Zagreb Solidarity City and For BREAD. selma is the recipient of several accolades and fellowships, more recently, ArtsLink International Fellowships (New York, 2019), and Jackman Goldwasser International Visiting Artist Residency (Chicago, 2019). She was awarded the Nada Dimić Award with the collectives Women to Women (2020) and Sloga (2021). Adam Semijalac (1980, Yugoslavia) is a composer, sound artist, music producer, and performer from Zagreb, Croatia. He is best known for his music project Bebè Na Volè. Adam is a versatile researcher of traditional delta blues and music heritage of his Slavonian and Dalmatian roots. Music critics consider him one of the most significant blues authors, vocals, and guitarists in the Balkans. The albums Time of Great Depression (2014), Hate is a Wonderful Thing (2018), and A dance for the black devil (2020) were praised by audiences and critics alike. He is featured in the documentary film Times of Great Depression (2019) by Vladimir Gojun. He composes music for dance, theater, and film.
