Ena Jurov is the new artist-in-residence at Akademie Schloss Solitude
Through the 2026 Solitude Exchange Network open call, illustrator, comics author, and visual communication designer Ena Jurov has been selected for an artist residency at Akademie Schloss Solitude in Stuttgart.
The exchange with the renowned institution Akademie Schloss Solitude takes place within the Solitude Exchange Network, which the Academie began developing in 2002. Since 2009, Croatia has participated in the network through its partnership with Pogon. The residencies last three months, and candidates for the stay in Stuttgart are selected through a public open call announced annually by Pogon. Jurov will stay in Stuttgart from September to November 2026.
Ena Jurov (1988, Zadar) is an illustrator, comic book author and visual communications designer. She completed an MA in Storytelling at Konstfack University in Stockholm and BA in visual communications at the School of Design, University of Zagreb.
As a visual communications designer and illustrator, she collaborates with various initiatives, independent organizations and artists, including projects such as Night March (fAKTIV), On the Waves of Feminism (Platform for Reproductive Justice), Trešnjevačke igračice (BLOK), The Passage/Prijelaz (selma banich/Marijana Hameršak/Žene Ženama). She is also the author of many concert posters for AKC Attack and Močvara, and the visual identity of the Vlajternativa festival. As part of the Dizajn studio Plejs, she designed visual materials for the autonomous community center Nigdjezemska in Zadar.
Children from Madina Hussiny's Playground, which she created with Olja Savičević Ivančević, is her first picture book.
Jurov often paints murals and regularly publishes comics in Komikaze, and also does VJing with the leilamarinaena collective.
She leads various workshops for children and adults.
The program is co-funded by the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia and the City Office for Culture and Civil Society of the City of Zagreb, and forms part of the international cooperation programme of Pogon – Zagreb Center for Independent Culture and Youth. The programme is carried out in collaboration with Akademie Schloss Solitude.
