"In 2024, the process starts from the question of what skills we can use, activate, improvise, how we can deepen our metabolisms, how we can become aware of exchanges between this and that side of the skin, these and those substances, processes and organisms.
Philosopher Michel Serres says something like this: 'the collective is not so much sick as it is intoxicated, intoxicated with language, drugged with noise, deprived of beauty, anesthetized.... The healing we seek is the silencing of the tongue within us, that is the first step in detoxification.'
We come together thinking about materials, we search for values in the generic, we make ends meet, we reuse the discarded, the worthless. We ask the question what is the process in such work, what does physicality mean by handwork, we look for visible and invisible traces and manifestations of various weavings, various tearing, various packing and unpacking of low-value materials and their valuable creations.
We will look at hard surfaces such as production relations, we will look at soft substances such as skins, opans and waste. We will look at how we take everything into ourselves, how we throw everything out of ourselves, what happens in that exchange. We will think about invisible persons, who for years wove tapestries, created melodies, left behind the spectacular real side, a more spectacular background full of knots, loops, bumps, excess, in which, as Serres says, all the secrets of that tapestry are hidden. We will think tactile and sensory, humpbacked and clumsy."
