Ida Loher: Željka - Memory and Constancy

"Željka - Memory and Constancy“ is an interactive video work that documents a part of personal history and unchanging emotions.

The work deals with the personality of a friend who passed away prematurely and the emotions that the artist developed through that relationship, emotions that still mark her life to this day. It is designed as a series of stories told through the medium of interactive video, allowing the viewer to get to know the protagonist through their participation.

Ida Loher was born in Zagreb in 1997. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb. She has worked in various primary and secondary schools as an art teacher and professor and has been employed at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb since 2016. Alongside teaching, she is engaged in research in the field of art education, writing textbooks and manuals for teachers, and publishing scientific and professional articles. She has been continuously engaged in artistic work since 1996. Her work is characterized by the intertwining of artistic, pedagogical and activist elements, with artistic expression explored through different forms. In 2004, together with I. M. Bitanga and L. Vukelić, she founded Tigar teatar for children and youth. Loher expands her exploration of media with artistic expression through photography, video and drawings, which she has exhibited in several solo and group exhibitions. Her projects frequently combine artistic and pedagogical work, underscoring the role of art in fostering positive community change. She is a member of HDLU (Croatian Association of Fine Artists) and the Croatian Educational Research Association, a branch of the European Educational Research Association (EERA). She is also a co-founder of the Association for the Promotion of Visual Culture (OPA).
