Yard cinema: Before Sunrise
We close the summer season of our cinema with a charming and entertaining generational classic from 1995.
While traveling by train through Europe, a young American named Jesse meets his French girlfriend, Céline. While Jesse has recently been dumped by a girlfriend he visited in Madrid, after which he embarked on a two-week trip around Europe, Céline is a student at the Sorbonne who is returning to Paris after visiting her grandmother in Budapest. The two fall in love at first sight and decide to get off the train in Vienna and spend a day together. As they walk through the city and talk about everything from love and emotions to art and reincarnation, both will become aware of their mutual attraction and will try to present themselves in the best possible light.
A romantic drama with dynamic dialogues, long takes and brilliantly profiled characters from director and co-writer Richard Linklater (Dazed and Confused (1993), Boyhood (2014), etc.), is the first part of a trilogy that will be completed by the titles "Before Dusk" and "Before Midnight".
