Greetings from Kostabela
With the citizens of Rijeka.
"The exhibition at Pogon Jedinstvo is the second presentation of the 'Greetings from Kostabela' project, modified for the gallery space. It takes place after the Rijeka premiere at O.K. Gallery which united all five actions held at the sea and coastal resort of Kostabela.
At the exhibition in Zagreb, four works were highlighted that convey the situation from the field through photography, video and sound. Their documentation is inserted in a partially interactive display with props and tools used in individual actions. The setting thus suggests the restrictions on movement that arise as a result of the privatization of space.
The body, in relation to the environment and other performers, citizens of Rijeka, in attempt of overcoming spatial barriers - is in the foreground. Personal ludism is connected to the collective and introduces a different reality into the imagination. (...) Through the principles of play, irony and subversive mimicry, art appears as a bond of community, a driver of a strike mode in relation to the tacit consensus of political and economic power."
