Sara Salamon, Matter Otherwise na Open Solitude

Sara Salamon, Matter Otherwise na Open Solitude

At the very end of a three-month residency, as part of the exchange program with Akademie Schloss Solitude, Sara Salamon presented her work process at the Open Solitude public event.

Open Solitude, held on November 22, is an opportunity to present the works of the residents. After the photo report from her residency, artist and this year's resident from Croatia Sara Salamon, gave a flash review of her research and final presentation entitled "Matter Otherwise".

During a three-month residency as part of the Eastern European Network at Akademie Schloss Solitude, I continued my extensive material research of readymades and replicating public space "inventories" and their modification with synthetic geosmin (petrichora) scents.

I want to explore the distortion of the finished template in two directions in order to to speak about the perception of reality. On one hand, I am interested in replicas of public space as a motif in spatial installation, and on the other, the activation of incompatible sensations felt by the audience.

I am interested in the experience of guilt - whether the problem wethin us or in reality? The miscalibration of what we see and smell opens up that question. On what relations and foundations have we built the world? Fake news as a method. Everything suddenly smells like this forest outside the window. Anthropocentric nature as a hallucination.

During the Open Solitude event, I presented the process, scented objects, video, drawings, and segments from previous works.
